Last year, Kate Middleton had to sit out of a lot of royal events as she underwent treatment following her unexpected cancer diagnosis. Now in remission, she’s back in action and making appearances again — including a big one that took place this week.
On Tuesday, May 20, Middleton and husband Prince William hosted the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace, marking the first time the Princess of Wales attended the event in two years.

As People reported, Middleton dressed for the occasion in a yellow Emilia Wickstead dress paired with the same Philip Treacy hat she wore to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s 2018 wedding.
She and William made their entrance to a rendition of “God Save the King” that afternoon, joined by other members of the royal family including Princess Eugenie, Prince Edward, and his wife, Duchess Sophie.

It’s clear from the comments on the post about the garden party from the Wales’ official Instagram account that so many people are happy to see Middleton out and about again.
“Love these two! The Princess looks absolutely stunning!” one commenter wrote.
“Just love their interactions with people, they truly care,” another person wrote. “One of the nicest couples we have in our Monarchy. It’s no wonder they are loved and respected so much.”
After what must have been an unimaginably hard year, it must be nice for Middleton to get back to some normalcy… especially when this normalcy involves dressing up for a classy garden party and eating tea cakes.
