Kate Middleton wrapped up a royal week of VE Day celebrations with a bow.
The Princess of Wales, 43, and other members of the royal family attended a celebratory concert at Horse Guards Parade in London on the evening of Thursday, May 8, concluding the U.K.’s week-long commemorations of the anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.
Princess Kate joined Prince William, 42, King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, among the concert’s 12,000 attendees. Prior to the beginning of the show, they spoke with other attendees seated in the royal box, which included U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as six special guests – veterans and Londoners who had been evacuated from the city as children during the war.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared frequent smiles as they listened to the music and waved miniature Union Jack flags.

For the occasion, Princess Kate wore an all-white ensemble that included a structured blazer and feminine skirt. She accented the look with a five-strand pearl necklace, statement stud earrings and an unexpected hair accessory: an oversized black bow accentuating her elegant half-up style.
This isn’t the first time that the Princess of Wales has shown that hair bows aren’t just for little girls. She’s used similar accessories in the past to dress up a ponytail.

William and Kate’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, was also a frequent wearer of hair bows during her younger years. However, the 10-year-old royal has recently begun to favor low ponytails and side braids.
Princess Kate has also been known to wear plenty of bows on her dresses, even adding them to past outfits in order to upcycle a favorite look and wear it again.
For the royal family’s Trooping the Colour balcony appearance in June 2024, Kate added a striped statement bow to a previously worn Jenny Packham dress in order to make it an entirely new look.
“The bow is the one accessory that she’s repeatedly added, and it’s totally transformed previous outfits into something that looks quite different,” Bethan Holt, fashion director at the Telegraph, told PEOPLE last year.

“I think she is trying a more sustainable way of dressing. She already has a vast and extensive wardrobe, so why shouldn’t she be looking for ways to take existing pieces and re-imagine them?” Holt added. “And a bow is a very democratic, universal way to do that.”
