Kate Middleton and Prince William may be on royal duty in Scotland, but they snuck in some moments that show they’re still in love 14 years after their wedding.
The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as the couple is called in Scotland, were openly affectionate with one another as they visited with locals in the town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull on April 29, which coincided with their 14th wedding anniversary. Prince William, 42, and Princess Kate, 43, shared smiles, laughs and the occasional touch as they visited the seaside town in coordinated blue button-down shirts and blazers.
At one point, Kate — who has been known to give her husband a tap on the backside occasionally! — leaned in close to her husband, smiling as her hand grazed his back.

The couple was also photographed from behind in a sweet snap that showed Princess Kate putting her head on Prince William’s shoulder as she rested her hand on his back.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have previously kept public displays of affection to a minimum, but they have recently become more comfortable sharing glimpses of their private bond following Kate’s January 2024 cancer diagnosis.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward recently told PEOPLE, “They are happy for people to see them be touchy-feely. They’re in a different phase of their life now. William is very protective and very proud of her for coming through this and carrying on with her life.”

Prince William and Princess Kate shared a romantic photo to mark Valentine’s Day in February and sweetly held hands during a visit to Wales later that month. The following month, the couple was photographed leaning in close and sharing a laugh during the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
Throughout Kate’s cancer treatment, she and William frequently spoke about supporting one another.
“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” Kate said in an emotional video message in March 2024, as she announced she had started chemotherapy.
“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance,” she added. “As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”
The Prince of Wales reflected on his family’s difficult year while speaking to reporters in Cape Town during his Earthshot Prize visit in November 2024.
“Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” he said. “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
