On the most recent episode of Sibling Revelry, the podcast hosted by famous siblings Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, the actress was asked about her best onscreen kiss by guest siblings Camila Cabello and Sofia Cabello. Kate’s answer was both hilarious and also kind of eyebrow-raising, but at least she was honest.

Kate said that she never really knows how to answer the question of best onscreen kiss, so her brother Oliver suggested she say with which one she “felt a tingle.”

“Billy Crudup, for sure. Billy Crudup. Billy Crudup, for sure. I tingled. I had a massive crush on him. I was young and he was like this hot, like theater-y guy, just like our father. With like weird beady eyes,” said Kate, to which her brother promptly replied, “He resembled dad.”

The Hudson siblings are not wrong.

Kate and Crudup played love interests in what turned out to be her breakout film, Almost Famous. Kate won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Penny Lane, a sort of groupie to a fictional band called Stillwater, in which Crudup played the lead guitarist.

Kate was just 19 years old when she auditioned for Almost Famous, and Crudup was 30. He also bore a decent resemblance to Kurt Russell at the same age.

And we don’t think Oliver was referring to their biological father. Kate and Oliver Hudson’s biological father is Bill Hudson, whom their mom, Goldie Hawn, was married to from 1976 to 1982. However, the two split in 1980 when Oliver was 3 and Kate was 1, and the siblings were largely raised by Hawn’s next partner, Kurt Russell, withwhom Goldie is still in a relationship, though they have never married. But Kate and Oliver consider Russell to be their dad because they were estranged from their biological father for most of their lives, so that is undoubtedly to whom Oliver was referring when he said “dad.”

Oliver told Larry King (via People) in 2018 that he and his biological father had been trying to have a relationship, “kind of keeping in touch.”
