The country singer shares how Bennington inspires his songwriting
Kameron Marlowe is getting ready to transition out of his Sad Songs for the Soul era — and enter his wedding era!
Speaking with PEOPLE exclusively ahead of his set at Morgan Wallen’s Sand in My Boots Festival at Alabama’s Gulf Shores on Friday, May 16, the “Giving You Up” singer opened up about his new music and upcoming nuptials with fiancée Meagan Bennington.
At the festival, the country singer, 27, debuted new music that shows “a very different side” of his songwriting — as opposed to his most recent album Sad Songs for the Soul, which he released in February.
“The sad stuff was amazing, it was fun, especially for wintertime… but I really have some fun, upbeat songs that I hope people like. We’re going to find out,” he says.
Most recently, Marlowe’s musical inspirations come from “billboards” and “movies” (his favorites are Forrest Gump and The Green Mile). But his biggest source has been his longtime love, who he proposed to in April 2023.
“She’s always my muse. I ain’t going to lie to you. She speaks in song titles,” he says of Bennington. “She’s very distinguished, I’d say. So I get a lot of song titles just from conversations that we have.”
Most recently, that was demonstrated on his 2024 track “Quit You.”

“But I wouldn’t say that came from a conversation,” he clarifies. “That was just a thought that I had. Basically, the song means no matter what, I could never not be addicted to the love that you give me.”
Up next, Marlowe and Bennington are set to wed on June 27 in Montana — which is also where they got engaged.
“I think I can speak for both of us when I say this, but I think we’re just ready to… We already live together and everything, so we feel like we’re already married,” he says.
Adding, “I think the wedding planning has been the biggest stressor in the world, and I think we’re just excited to be, like, ‘Ah, finally we’re married.'”
The wedding is happening June 27 in Montana with “close people and our families.” Afterward, the couple will take off for a honeymoon which Marlowe says will be “amazing.”
After the couple got engaged, Bennington told PEOPLE she “always wanted to marry my best friend and I refused to settle for anything less.”
“When Kameron came into my life I knew I had found the person I wanted to spend every day with,” she said.
