Kamala Harris is about to release a memoir that will take readers behind-the-scenes of her historic presidential candidacy.

107 Days’s title refers to the total length of Harris’s 2024 campaign, which kickstarted after President Joe Biden rescinded his own candidacy and endorsed the vice president as his successor. The book, which will be published by Simon & Schuster, will be available on September 23.

“Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for president of the United States. One hundred and seven days traveling the country, fighting for our future. The shortest presidential campaign in modern history. It was intense, high stakes, and deeply personal for me and for so many of you,” Harris said in a video shared to her social media channels. “Since leaving office, I spent a lot of time reflecting on those days, talking with my team, my family, my friends, and pulling my thoughts together. In essence, writing a journal, which is this book, 107 Days. With candor and reflection, I’ve written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey.”

She adds, “I believe there is value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward. In writing this book, one truth kept coming back to me. Sometimes the fight takes a while, but I remain full of hope and I remain clear-eyed. I will never stop fighting to make our country reflect the very best of its ideals always on behalf of the people.”

Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp said that Harris’s memoir “addresses everything we would want her to address,” though he declined to specify what Harris has included in the book, according to the Associated Press.

Harris’s candidacy marked major milestones in the U.S. political landscape; she became the first Black woman and the first Asian American to accept the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. She ultimately lost to President Donald Trump after flagging behind in major battleground states during the general election.

Harris announced her memoir a day after confirming that she has no plans to run as the governor of California in 2026. “In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor,” she said in a statement. “I love this state, its people, and its promise. It is my home. But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election…. For now, my leadership—and public service—will not be in elected office.”
