The Met Gala tonight has delivered Hollywood starlets, fashion royalty, sports stars, and now, political icons. Kamala Harris made her grand arrival at the ball tonight looking sharp in a black-and-white gown by Off-White.
The flowing dress is mostly black, with one side in an icy white. At the neckline, a built-in scarf takes over, and at the waist, the piece is cinched with a black ribbon belt. Harris accessorized the powerful look with a timeless black clutch, dangling emerald earrings, and a matching ring.

Harris seems to have skipped the public red carpet at the event tonight, and likely snuck in through another entrance with husband Doug Emhoff.
The starry outing tonight is slightly unexpected for Harris, as she doesn’t frequent red carpets or Hollywood events, and she has been lying especially low since losing the presidential election to Donald Trump.
Still, the Met Gala’s host, Anna Wintour, is notably one of the Democratic Party’s most important donors, and has been a longtime supporter of Harris, so it is a welcome surprise that the former vice president decided to return the favor by attending the grand fashion event.
Harris also loves New York—a blue state that backed her through and through during her run for the presidency. Earlier this year, for Valentine’s Day, she and Emhoff went to Broadway to see Gypsy, and received a standing ovation from the crowd.
Emhoff’s daughter and Harris’s stepdaughter, designer Ella Emhoff, also lives in Brooklyn (she is even sometimes referred to as “The First Daughter of Bushwick”), and is regularly seen at New York City events, including major runway shows.
