‘Jurassic Park’ Star Sam Neill Mourns Sad Family Loss: ‘Farewell My Little Friend’ originally appeared on Parade.
Actor Sam Neill is mourning the loss of his beloved duck, Magda.
The beloved Jurassic Park star, 77, who stars alongside Eric Bana in the new Netflix series Untamed, took to TikTok to share a sweet video dedicated to Magda’s memory.
“SAD DAY. Very upset to hear that in my absence, dear old Magda, my beloved duck, passed away this week,” Neill shared, featuring a video of him cradling the bird in his arms as he stood on his bucolic property. “Bruce found her in the long grass – she had died peacefully in her sleep. This was my last time with her a few weeks back.”

Neill continued, sharing some interesting details about Magda’s life and the way he honored her memory.
“She was a miracle old duck. Very late in life, she finally hatched some eggs and raised two hellraiser ducklings,” Neill continued. “Today they stand by the dam saying goodbye to their mother, as KEVIN THE KAKA flys past, as a salute to the old girl. Farewell Magda, my little friend.”
Neill has had health battles in recent years, but is doing tremendously well. In 2022, he was diagnosed with stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, The Independent previously reported. However, he noted on an appearance on the White Wine Question Time podcast last year that he’s in remission and “enjoying life immensely.”
“If this had happened to me 20 years ago, I wouldn’t be around to talk to you. I go in (for treatment) once a month now. But it used to be three times a month and it’s down to once a month now,” Neill explained. “You have sort of three or four horrible days afterwards, and then all is well and you cheer up and I go to the gym and all that.”
