The unexpected moment left 12,000 fans at London’s O2 Arena on Friday, July 25 stunned as the two legends paid their respects to the “Prince of Darkness.”
The evening was already historic before Depp’s appearance. The original Alice Cooper group reunited live on stage for the first time in decades, performing on the same day their first new album in over 50 years, The Revenge Of Alice Cooper, was released.
The sold-out crowd witnessed music history as original band members Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith and Michael Bruce joined forces once again.
Hollywood icon Depp, 62, joined the rocker, 77, in a moving rendition of Black Sabbath’s classic “Paranoid.” Cooper hyped up the crowd, screaming “Let’s hear it for Ozzy!” before launching into the beloved anthem.
The Pirates of the Carribean’s appearance caught fans completely off guard, especially given his tendency to avoid the spotlight in recent years.
After the concert, fan videos quickly surfaced online, leaving many users in awe of the performance. One wrote, “Can’t believe he was there last night,” while another joked, “I would have simply passed away.”
Following Ozzy’s passing, Cooper reflected on the devastating loss with heartfelt words that described the tight-knit community in rock and roll.
Cooper knew Ozzy as both the “prince of darkness” and the “court jester,” reportedly telling a crowd in Cardiff, “Rock and roll is a fraternity. When we lose one of our own, it bleeds.”
Ozzy tragically passed away on Tuesday, July 22, at the age of 76, just weeks after his final performance with Black Sabbath. The legendary musician had been battling Parkinson’s disease before his death.
