He said the process has been “intense” and joked that cutting down the guest list is “like The Hunger Games“
The Love Hotel host announced his engagement to partner John-Michael Sudsina in August 2024
Joel Kim Booster is getting real about the challenges of wedding planning.
The Love Hotel host — who is engaged to John-Michael Sudsina — appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show last week and shared an update about the planning process.
“It’s intense, man. Like, it’s homework every weekend,” he told Hudson, 43.
“We’re doing the guest list right now, and baby, it’s like The Hunger Games,” he said. “You know, it’s like sifting through your friends, deciding who’s important enough to get a plus-one and who is not.”
Booster, 37, then jokingly explained that he’s giving his single friends a deadline on having a serious date for the wedding.
” ‘Cause some of my friends, I’m like, ‘You guys, you have until August to fall in love. Otherwise, you will not be bringing some rando to my wedding, ‘ ” he said, prompting Hudson to laugh and declare, “You better call it!”
Booster continued: “I am not paying $88 for a plate of food for some guy you met off Tinder three days ago, OK. That’s not gonna happen.”

“I do want it to be a production. And I’m in a place in my life where I’m lucky enough where I can make it a production,” he said while appearing on the Grindr Presents: Who’s the A——? with Katya podcast.
At the time, Booster said the couple’s friends and family would have to be a bit patient when it comes to the wedding, as his packed schedule was making it difficult to find the right time.
“I think it’s probably going to be one or two years [until the wedding], only because of the nature of my work. It’s very hard to plan in advance for something,” he explained.

Elsewhere during the podcast conversation, Booster — who met his partner through mutual friends during a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico — revealed why the pair decided to take the leap and get married.
“Once we realized that [the relationship] was about making a commitment to grow together and putting in the work to make sure that we maintain that, I think it was like, well, why not just pull the trigger and make these promises in front of our friends,” he said.
Describing Sudsina as “endgame” for him, Booster added, “So I do think that we want to make that statement in front of our friends.”

The couple was also motivated by their desire to start a family together.
“Part of the reason we decided to get married at the time, and this is now a little up in the air, is we decided we wanted to have kids,” Booster said on the podcast, noting, “I was not super interested in kids for a long time, but being in love with this person, I am sort of like we would collaborate on something really cool. I think we’d make something really awesome together.”
