Jack Reacher linked up with a former U.S. president in the City of Brotherly Love.
Joe Biden accidentally crashed the set of Reacher on his way to breakfast Monday in Philadelphia, inadvertently strolling onto the premises as crew members filmed a police chase scene for the fourth season of the Prime Video thriller.
A bystander told CBS Philadelphia he was watching the crew shoot the scene when black SUVs pulled up. “Out walked these men that I thought were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering,” the bystander said. “Then someone said, ‘We love you, Joe. We love you!'”
Biden dined at Parc, a bistro on 18th Street, with wife Jill and son Hunter. The bystander recounted the former POTUS waving to the crowd, shaking hands with the cast and crew, and posing for selfies with residents after he finished his meal.
A representative for the 45th president confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the meetup was not planned.
Reacher leading man Alan Ritchson also met the Bidens, as documented in an Instagram post shared early Tuesday. “So our Reacher set got in the way of these legends,” Ritchson wrote alongside a carousel of clips and photos, calling it “a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family.”
“They couldn’t have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present,” he said. “We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement. Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day’s work.”
Production on season 4 of Reacher, which does not have a release date yet, began in Philly earlier this week. The season will be an adaptation of Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in Lee Child’s best-selling Jack Reacher novel series. Amazon’s synopsis reads: “When a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a train goes horribly wrong, Jack Reacher is drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power.”

Biden’s outing comes about a month after he announced that he’d been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. “Cancer touches us all,” he said on social media. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
