Jessica Simpson put a patriotic spin on her latest swimwear look.
As she celebrated the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, the pop star, 44, shared a new mirror selfie on her Instagram Stories, showing off her festive outfit. She sported a tiny red bikini, topped with an olive green, military-inspired short-sleeve shirt, worn unbuttoned. Her accessories included a large pair of white sunglasses and a printed bandana headband.
A navy blue baseball cap decorated with the letters “USA” and an American flag emblem could be seen sitting on the bathroom counter.
Simpson’s selfie was fittingly soundtracked by the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic “American Girl.”

The fashion mogul has been having a little fun with her personal style lately. On May 31, she tried out a goth glam look for a night out to the We Matter x Limitless Mental Health Dinner in Los Angeles.
Her ensemble featured a black satin mini slip dress with lingerie-inspired lace trim around the bust. She amped up her look by wearing a black feathered cropped jacket over the dress, along with black sheer stockings and black pointy-toe platform boots.
A ring adorned with two large turquoise stones added a pop of bright color to her all-black fashion moment.

Simpson also recently shook things up by making a change to her signature blonde hair.
While making a special appearance during the season 23 finale of American Idol on May 18, the mom of three debuted freshly dyed dirty blonde hair with sun-kissed highlights. Her longtime hair guru and friend, celebrity colorist Rita Hazan, described Simpson’s new shade to PEOPLE as “desert sunset blonde.”

She said it took “two hours” to complete.
According to Hazan, Simpson “loved” her new hair color. “She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up,” Hazan said. “She always had a super buttery blonde — this time we wanted something new and youthful.”
“I think it’s a fresh and young vibe, but with confidence and a slight attitude to represent her mood,” the stylist added.

Prior to her American Idol appearance, Simpson told PEOPLE that her “style evolves as I do on a personal level, through each stage of my life.”
She also said she draws fashion inspiration from nearly anywhere — and is a Pinterest devotee.
“Anything from a vintage printed wallpaper in a movie I am watching or a performance piece displayed in an old documentary,” Simpson explained. “Everyone who knows me knows I am observant. I never miss a detail. Inspiration comes at me in visceral ways, every single day. And I honestly don’t know what I would do without Pinterest.”
