Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson Are Keeping Things Cordial

The estranged couple were spotted enjoying each other’s company amid growing reports of them getting a divorce last month.

Jessica Simpson announced that she and Eric Johnson were currently separated and not living under one roof earlier in the year in an Instagram post.

Simpson took time out to spend time with her husband, Johnson, amidst ongoing rumors of their divorce. Exclusive photos captured the estranged couple in Carlsbad, California, alongside their three children. 

Eyewitnesses also noted to TMZ that while the kids appeared in good spirits, Simpson and Johnson seemed distant, with their daughters Maxwell and Birdie and son Ace positioned between them.

The couple’s issues had been apparent for some time, especially after Simpson shared a cryptic post in November featuring alluring photos from a Nashville music studio. In that post, she expressed that her artistic comeback was personal and served as an apology to herself for enduring difficulties in her marriage.

As shared by The Blast, the singer has faced challenges in her marriage, which she acknowledged back in January when she announced on Instagram that she and Eric were living separately and navigating a “painful situation.” 

She reiterated that while they have been navigating the difficult period in their marriage, their children remain their top priority. “We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family,” the actress added.

Simpson’s separation news follows her earlier announcement that she would spend more time in Nashville working on music while Johnson cared for their kids in Los Angeles.

The troubled marriage of Simpson and Johnson became evident when they both stopped wearing their wedding bands. Reports from last November highlighted that Johnson, a former professional football player, had removed his ring several months after Simpson did the same. 

Paparazzi spotted him in Los Angeles, engrossed in important documents, without his wedding band. This sighting occurred eight months after Simpson shared a sultry Valentine’s Day post on social media, notably ringless.

She captioned it with a lipstick emoji, leading sources to suggest that her solo update reflected ongoing issues with Johnson. Numerous insiders have since indicated that the couple’s long-standing relationship is over, with divorce proceedings expected in the future.

The estranged couple has remained tight-lipped about the issues in their marriage, but sources have begun to reveal the underlying tensions.

An insider mentioned that the former San Francisco 49ers player got increasingly frustrated with his wife, citing her unpredictable mood swings. Meanwhile, the singer feels that their relationship has lost its romantic spark.

Concerns also grew back then about the future of their marriage, as the informant noted that Johnson had been distancing himself from the singer for over a year.

He has reportedly expressed frustration about living with someone he perceives as excessively focused on cosmetic surgery and often detached from reality.

As for Simpson’s ex, Nick Lachey, her divorce from the 44-year-old was a learning curve. He recently reflected on his past relationship with the superstar during an episode of Netflix’s “The Ultimatum.”

He addressed the emotional impact of divorce, sharing his experiences to empathize with a contestant facing a similar situation. Lachey emphasized the importance of not letting past relationships define one’s future, drawing on his marriage to Vanessa Lachey as an example.

Simpson and Lachey first met at the Hollywood Christmas Parade in 1998 and became engaged before marrying in 2002. Their relationship ended in separation in 2005, with their divorce being finalized in 2006.

This occurred four years prior to Simpson beginning her romance with her current partner, Johnson.
