Jesse Metcalfe isn’t mad at being one of the Hollywood heartthrobs mentioned in Scheana Shay‘s memoir, My Good Side.
During an appearance on the Page Six Radio, the Desperate Housewives alum, 46, looked back fondly on his brief fling with Shay, 40, after the Vanderpump Rules alum included him in her headline-making tell-all. In fact, Metcalfe has nothing but good memories about their early-2000s romance.
“I mean, look, this, this was like over 15 years ago, maybe even close to 20 years ago. So, I mean, hopefully that’s not the most relevant thing about me that I dated Scheana Shay 20 years ago. But you know, I have fond memories of that time. She’s a great girl,” Metcalfe shared.
Despite the chatter surrounding Shay’s steamy celebrity hookups, Metcalfe said he’s “really proud” of his former flame, and is “happy for her success.”
He continued, “I mean, a lot of us serious actors thought that this reality thing was gonna come and go, you know? And people have, you know, made huge careers for themselves, you know, off of like very successful reality shows. And she’s one of them, so that’s great.”
In the memoir, Shay shared that she met Metcalfe after he left rehab in March 2007.
“The first date he took me on post‑rehab was the Cloverfield red carpet movie premiere,” Shay wrote. She also recalled celebrating her 22nd birthday with him, sticking to water and Red Bull all night in solidarity with his sobriety.
In the pages of My Good Side, Shay describes how Metcalfe would serenade her with songs like “Hey There Delilah” during quiet nights at his parents’ home—calling it “a real‑life fantasy with this guy I’d watched on TV and in movies for years.”
And while Metcalfe wasn’t bothered about the memoir mention, he did confess while appearing on Tori Spelling‘s podcast, misSPELLING, that he tried hiding the pages from his current partner, Helene Immel.

“I tried to keep that from her,” the John Tucker Must Die star admitted, before delving deeper into the nature of his “brief” relationship with Shay. “I mean, overall, it was pretty brief, but we were seeing each other on a regular basis.”
“She spoke highly of me, which was nice,” he added.
