Jess Glynne Slams Trump’s White House for Using ‘Hold My Hand’-Jet2 Holiday Meme to Tout ICE Deportations: ‘Honestly Makes Me Sick’

British pop singer Jess Glynne has spoken out against a White House social media post that cashes in on her “Hold My Hand” Jet2holidays viral moment to promote ICE’s deportation efforts.

Glynne caught wind of yesterday’s post and reacted early on Wednesday morning, slamming the administration for repurposing the song for their efforts. “This post honestly makes me sick,” she wrote on her Instagram stories. “My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity — never about division or hate.”

“Hold My Hand,” Glynne’s 2015 hit, recently gained popularity online as users began posting audio from the advertisement alongside various mishaps. The White House’s official X account followed the meme format with a post yesterday afternoon, depicting what appears to be handcuffed, undocumented immigrants being boarded onto a plane to deport them.

“When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation,” the post reads. “Nothing beats it!”

The White House post also features a clip of President Donald Trump giving a thumbs up, and a screenshot of the CBP app homepage that offers immigrants the option to self-deport.

The Trump administration’s social media presence has been a consistent stream of meme and troll postings throughout the year. In a statement to the Independent regarding the Jet2 meme, the White House stated that it has no intention of slowing down.

“There is nothing more unifying and positive than deporting criminal illegal aliens and making American communities safer,” said White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson. “The memes will continue until every criminal illegal alien is removed!”
