Jennifer Lopez had a tough year — and no one saw that more clearly than her two kids.
The singer, 55, spoke with Spanish newspaper El País ahead of her world tour and shared that when she was going through a difficult time last year, she addressed it directly with her 17-year-old twins Emme and Max.
“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it,” Lopez says. “And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

In the last year, the musician went through a divorce with ex Ben Affleck and canceled a tour, but she told the outlet she’s in a good place now.
“I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago… I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it,” she continues. “So, it’s a great time to go out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everybody.”
Affleck and Lopez tied the knot in July 2022, and the musician filed for divorce just over two years later in August 2024. They finalized their divorce in January and were officially declared single on Feb. 21.
Although the couple is no longer together, their families are still close. In April, Lopez’s twins Emme and Max joined Affleck, alongside his own kids — Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 19 — at the premiere of his new movieThe Accountant 2.

“It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” Affleck told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting.”
ET co-host Nischelle Turner went on to comment that it was “really dope” that both Affleck and Lopez’s kids were in attendance and that he is “continuing those relationships.”
“Listen, I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of … they wanna find something negative to talk about,” Affleck agreed, before complimenting his ex.
“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” the star explained. “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”

In early April, Lopez was seen out with her teen Emme as the two attended the premiere of George Clooney’s Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck.
The two sported sleek coordinating black tie looks with a vintage velvet flair to support Clooney, whom Lopez once costarred with in Steven Soderbergh’s 1998 film, Out Of Sight.
