Jennifer Hudson is celebrating a major career milestone!
Hudson’s beloved talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show, which premiered in September 2022, has filmed its 500th episode.
Hudson celebrated the milestone on the May 7 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. Hudson told her audience, “Today is a very, very special day.”
“It’s our 500th show today! Can you believe it? How insane is this?” said Hudson to her cheering audience.
Hudson also said she is “grateful for [her] staff and [her] crew,” as well as the show’s guests and viewers.
“I love the memories that we create. I think we’ve done a wonderful job in creating the happy place together. I feel like we are The Jennifer Hudson Show family,” said Hudson during the episode. “And it is indeed a blessing to come here everyday and to see ya’ll’s smiling faces. I cannot tell you how much it lifts my heart and my spirit to walk through those doors that say Jennifer Hudson, each and every day. And then to look out there and to see your love, your energy, and your support.”
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on May 7, one of the show’s executive producers, Andy Lassner, discussed why he believes The Jennifer Hudson Show has made it to such a big milestone. He noted that before guests are interviewed on the talk show, they are met with joyous “spirit tunnel,” where they are encouraged to dance as the crew members sing. This has made for many viral moments from the show.
“Nowhere in my 40 years have I seen anything like these young ladies and what they do; they’ve created something that has broken through,” said Lassner to the publication. “In talk shows, you’re now competing with not just daytime talk, you’re competing with the internet and streaming and everything. All you want to do is break through — and they’ve created pop culture.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hudson inspired the “spirit tunnels.”
“I would come in with a boom box like, ‘We need to wake this place up. Then, all of a sudden, I would come out the door and they’re all lined up singing. I said we need to show this to the world so people can understand the energy that the spirit tunnel holds and the Happy Place,” said Hudson to the publication.
