NEED TO KNOW

  • Jennifer Garner shared a kiss with boyfriend John Miller on Sunday, June 22, at the 67 Strong: Jen Garner’s Final Mile 4 Kids event in Santa Monica, California

  • The actress and Save the Children trustee and ambassador finished the final mile in her 67-day #67Strong4Kids challenge, which kicked off on her birthday in April

  • “I wanted something that was going to mean something to me and this just felt like something I could attempt,” Garner told PEOPLE during the event

Jennifer Garner had a very special supporter of her own as she supported a cause near and dear: her boyfriend John Miller.

The actress and Save the Children trustee and ambassador attended the 67 Strong: Jen Garner’s Final Mile 4 Kids event in Santa Monica, California, on Sunday, June 22, where she completed the final installment in her 67-day challenge of running one mile a day to benefit #67Strong4Kids.

The campaign, which kicked off on Garner’s 53rd birthday in April, combats global childhood hunger, raising awareness about how “just $67 can provide a full six-week course of [ready-to-use therapeutic food] to bring a severely malnourished child back to health,” per a description.

And on Sunday, Garner got some love from longtime beau Miller, who planted a kiss on the 13 Going on 30 actress following her final mile.

The wholesome moment after Garner’s final mile comes over a month after Garner and Miller were most recently spotted smiling together out in Los Angeles on May 3. Before that, the pair stepped out in New York City wearing coordinating blue looks back in April.

At the time, Garner rocked a blue V-neck sweater with white pants, while Miller went for a blue long-sleeved button-down shirt with jeans.

Miller, a businessman and chairman of technology company CaliGroup, was first rumored to be dating Garner in 2018.

The actress later told PEOPLE she was ready for a “fresh start” in 2020, before the couple was spotted spending time together again in August 2021. A source told PEOPLE in February 2023 that Miller and Garner had been together again for a year.

Garner shares kids Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, with ex-husband Ben Affleck, while Miller is dad to two kids with his ex-wife, violinist Caroline Campbell.

Speaking with PEOPLE on Sunday, Garner explained that while she isn’t a “natural runner” herself, she still felt compelled to take on the charitable miles for Save the Children in an effort to combat global childhood hunger — clocking in her final mile this weekend alongside Brooks Running and Peloton instructor Becs Gentry.

“I run because it feels good afterward, but it’s not something that I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to go out and run.’ So, I wanted to do something that was a small promise that I could keep to myself every day, but that would be meaningful for me,” said the Yes Day star. “A lot of people run a lot more than that and a lot of people get up early and do all kinds of things.”

“But I wanted something that was going to mean something to me, and this just felt like something I could attempt,” she added.

As Garner explained, she tapped into Gentry’s “forward is a pace” mantra to help her complete the challenge for Save the Children, which she’s been involved with for 17 years.

“I seriously did not know Becs before other than [being] a fan of hers and I run along to her on Peloton. And especially when I’ve been training for anything action, I really use her workouts a lot,” she said. “One of the things Becs says is, ‘Forward is a pace.’ So, don’t judge yourself. If you’re going forward, you’re doing it. And so on the second run, I called her out and just said, ‘Forward is a pace, right, Becs?’ And then she joined and started doing it with me.”

“I believe in the power of community,” Garner later added of her recent efforts. “I believe in the power of just people showing up.”
