Bush Hager, 43, first recalled, “My mom also loves Elton [John], but we went to the Elton John concert on the White House lawn two years ago. We went and it was amazing because he’s doing his goodbye performances.”

Rogers, 35, asked Bush Hager if she had “heard the record with Brandi Carlile.”

“Yeah! Do you know that Brandi Carlile is the woman I would leave my husband for?” the mother of three joked, adding, “I’m not sure I’ve ever said it exactly straight up, but she is.”

Her response left the comedian amused as Rogers proclaimed her confession would become “headline news.”

Carlile, 43, and Bush Hager have crossed paths before.

In May 2021, the Grammy-winning artist appeared on Today to discuss how her daughter influenced the title of her memoir, Broken Horses.

During the split-screen Zoom conversation, which saw Bush Hager smiling contentedly throughout, they also discussed their shared love of John, 78.

“I fell in love with Elton John over a fifth-grade book report,” she said of her Who Believes In Angels? Stories from the Edge Of Creation collaborator.

Carlile said it was through a book titled Elton John by Philip Norman that she discovered the British singer-songwriter and pianist, plus other artists who shaped her life.

“Before that, I was just a country singer, a little kid who’s a country singer,” she said.

For Wednesday’s episode, Bush Hager clarified that she would not act on her crush on the “Highwomen” hitmaker.

“But I’m not leaving my husband at all,” the television host assured her audience and Rogers.

Holding up her wedding ring, she added, “See? A ring!”

Rogers joked that she at least wouldn’t choose to end her marriage on Hager’s wedding weekend, as she and Hager will celebrate 17 years of marriage on Saturday, May 10.

The couple married in 2008 after they met while he was working on her father’s presidential campaign trail in 2004.
