JD Vance Says Trump Admin Is ‘Rooting’ For All Naval Academy Graduates No Matter Their Politics

Vice President J.D. Vance set politics aside by saying on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration is “rooting” for and is “proud” of every single Naval Academy graduate.

Vance, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., outlined the high stake responsibility that will befall all of the graduates as they begin to serve our country. He said that in his nearly 41 years of life, he has never been prouder in his life than to honor those graduating from the Naval Academy as of Friday.

“Now I want to say to all of you, I’ve been vice president for all of about 120 days and this summer I will celebrate my 41st birthday,” Vance said. “But I have never in those 41 years been so proud as I am today to honor you, to celebrate you and to congratulate you on a job well done. Now I’m sure some of you share my politics and some of you don’t. But I know today, I speak for a grateful nation when I say we are rooting for you, Naval Academy Class of 2025, we are proud of you and we depend on you. Congratulations, God speed, and do great work.” (RELATED: JD Vance Throws Lead Down Range With US Marines During Quantico Visit)

The vice president said that the legacy of John Paul Jones, who is considered the “Father of the Navy,” is passing onto the current incoming members.

“Their examples lives on in all of you. And their courage, we see the of your calling to be strong, but not reckless, to seek peace, but not at the expense of liberty,” Vance said. “To hold firm to your convictions even when the cost is high.”

Vance further said that Trump’s visit to the Middle East the week prior established a “generational shift in [foreign] policy” to help ensure peace around the world. Following his trip, Trump announced he was issuing a temporary waiver on some Syria sanctions and expressed optimism about a nuclear deal with Iran, which even received some praise from Democrats, who said the trip was a foreign policy success.

One Naval Academy graduate, Maharlika Archuleta, told “Fox & Friends” ahead of the commencement speech that it is an “incredible honor” to have Vance speak at the podium. She said his example proves that “where you start off does not define how far you go.”
