Long before he became a respected voice in personal finance and the host of the popular “Trading Secrets” podcast, Jason Tartick captured hearts as a contestant on Season 14 of “The Bachelorette.”

Known for his sincerity and emotional intelligence, Tartick became a fan favorite during his journey to win over Becca Kufrin. Though he didn’t receive the final rose, his time in the mansion would shape not only his public persona but also some surprising behind-the-scenes insights that fans likely never saw coming.

Now an entrepreneur, investor, and founder of the financial literacy brand Restart, Tartick continues to mentor others, many of whom got their start in the “Bachelor” universe.

But in a recent conversation with The Blast, Jason Tartick opened up about what really goes on behind the cameras, how he stayed grounded, and whether he’d ever return to the franchise in a different role.

While “The Bachelorette” is known for its emotional hometown visits, Tartick revealed that what fans saw on screen wasn’t quite what it seemed.

“Not all contestants ‘Home Towns’ are actually in their hometown or in their homes,” he admitted. “In fact, during my home town episode, no one that attended my hometown lived in that city. My parents live in Charlotte and my brother is in New York City.”

Tartick, who grew up in Buffalo, New York, insisted on filming there to honor his roots. “We did ‘Home Towns’ in a hometown that no one lived in anymore and a house that wasn’t ours,” he said, adding that the location still held significant personal value.

Food, Friendship, And Ziploc Bags

Surprisingly, life in the “Bachelorette” mansion wasn’t all catered meals and luxury.

“We all cooked for ourselves,” Tartick shared when speaking on his recent partnership with Ziploc. “When we’d have leftovers, we would put them in Ziploc bags in the fridge.” Contestants would take turns preparing meals, and production would handle grocery store runs based on their orders.

While Tartick now partners with brands like Ziploc to promote smarter spending and food preservation, it turns out he was already a fan of the brand’s practicality even back then.

With years of perspective since filming, Tartick had one clear message for anyone stepping into the franchise.

“This is not a competition show. You are not competing against others,” he told The Blast. “You are there to be the best version of yourself. Be that person, do not lie. Don’t speak poorly about other people, just be the best you.”

Adjusting to normal life after “The Bachelorette” was unexpectedly emotional. “I didn’t have my phone for three months and they gave me my phone back… however, that wasn’t the case,” Tartick recalled. “I’ll never forget what I said to the producer—that I actually didn’t want it back. I would love to give my phone back again for another three months.”

The experience of being unplugged was “weirdly therapeutic,” he said, emphasizing the unique space the show creates, one where contestants are forced to be present with their emotions and surroundings.

While his time as a contestant is behind him, Tartick isn’t closing the door on a future with the franchise. “If I ever got a call from anyone in leadership from the ‘Bachelor’ franchise, I would always pick up their call,” he said.

As the founder of Rewired Talent Management, Tartick already plays an active role in guiding Bachelor Nation alumni. “Whether it’s with my company or other companies, I provide insight and advice as to how to brand yourself and create an influential impact through social media,” he added.

In fact, he reflected on having Kelly Flanagan of Bachelor Nation on his podcast recently.

“One thing she said that I’ll truly always remember is that sometimes you can get so focused on this ‘rat race’ of life and on the peer pressure and timing of what’s meant to happen,” he told The Blast, adding that Kelly mentioned how although her father is no longer with her, he serves as an idol of someone who didn’t follow what’s expected.

“[Kelly’s father] had one marriage at the age of 48,” Tartick said. “He followed the direction of the life he wanted to pursue in his own timing. Kelly’s parents got married years after dating, and her mother had her at 43 years old.”

“While Kelly recognizes that, of course, not everyone is blessed enough to have that fortune, there’s still some symbolism in living the life that you always imagine, be with the people, and marry the person you’ve always dreamed of,” he continued. “Do not settle and don’t ever get stuck in the concept of ‘it’s too late.’ In 2025, there are so many different options and avenues to pursue to make sure that what you want out of life hopefully, you have the opportunity to get it your way and not through the peer pressure of others.”

Though his rose journey may have ended years ago, Jason Tartick’s presence in the “Bachelor” world, and beyond, continues to grow, rooted in authenticity, financial wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.
