Jalen Hurts is reiterating that he missed the Eagles’ visit to the White House last month because of scheduling conflicts.
The star quarterback, 26, was noticeably absent when the Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House on April 28 to celebrate their 2025 Super Bowl win with President Donald Trump, along with at least a dozen other Eagles players.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, May 20, Hurts doubled down on the reason for his absence. “I wasn’t available,” the Super Bowl MVP said. “I don’t think that’s pertinent. Everyone who went, and was available, they seemed to enjoy themselves.”
Leading up to the visit, reports surfaced that the quarterback would not participate due to “scheduling conflicts.” He was asked about whether or not he’d attend on the TIME100 Gala red carpet on April 24, and gave a smile as he declined to answer the question.

Following the Eagles’ visit on April 28, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark released a list of all the players who skipped celebrating with Trump. In addition to Hurts, the players who did not attend were A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, Nolan Smith, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, CJ Gardner Johnson, Darius Slay and Quinyon Mitchell.
During his speech, President Trump praised the team, especially running back Saquon Barkley — who defended himself just before the visit against backlash as he went for a golf outing with Trump — and took a jab at Taylor Swift over the Chiefs’ loss in the 2025 Super Bowl.
Calling the Super Bowl results “a little surprising” during his speech, Trump mentioned Chiefs fan Swift after saying he “was there, I watched in person,” at the game in New Orleans on Feb. 9. “I was there along with Taylor Swift,” Trump said at the Eagles visit. “How did that work out?” he asked, to laughs from the crowd, before repeating the question: “How did that one work out?”

Since his Super Bowl win, Hurts has been enjoying the offseason as a newlywed with wife Bryonna “Bry” Rivera Burrows. The couple walked the carpet at the Met Gala on May 5 wearing coordinated, glittery looks from Burberry.

Hurts wore a black velvet embellished with gemstones along his shoulders, and accessorized his look with a black beret and jewelry by Tiffany & Co. and Breitling. Meanwhile, Bry sported an embroidered maroon gown with fringe skirt, as well as some sparkling silver jewelry.
The couple confirmed they had tied the knot as part of Men’s Health magazine’s May/June 2025 cover story. According to the outlet, while doing the interview, Hurts said of Burrows that by the time the feature was published, “You can call her my wife.”
