Jake Knapp’s Girlfriend Says She Was ‘Outed’ Playing ‘Hooky’ from Work While Watching Him Golf

Makena White’s plan wasn’t, well, par-fectly executed.

The girlfriend of golf pro Jake Knapp, 31, recalled two past instances involving their relationship that she didn’t see coming, breaking down the unexpected experiences on her X account on Monday, July 28.

White’s confessions came in response to a prompt teed up by the PGA Tour’s official X account.

“Share a piece of golf lore about yourself,” read the post, which was alongside a black-and-white doodle of a person gazing at a golf ball.

White wrote, “My (previously very private) relationship was hard launched on national television at the 2024 Mexico Open. A year later I got outed playing hooky from work on a Thursday cause that same bf shot 59 & photos of us cellying were all over the internet.”

“2 years of getting sewered,” she concluded her tweet.

White and Knapp were linked in mid-2023, but didn’t go public until February 2024 at the Californian’s maiden PGA Tour success in Mexico.

After Knapp won, the PGA Tour account on X posted a clip of White’s reaction.

“This would be so sweet,” she said as Knapp prepared for his final putt. Once the ball sank in the hole, White hurried onto the green to congratulate her boyfriend.

Since then, White has been seen at several other tournaments in support of Knapp.

This past February, the golfer shot a historic 59 at the Cognizant Classic in the first round, becoming the 15th player in PGA Tour history to record a sub-60 round. The round occurred at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

White got “outed” for skipping work at this tournament, a celebration that was captured in a video shared on the PGA Tour’s X account.

In the clip, White is seen excitedly in shock after her boyfriend’s major accomplishment. When he approaches her soon after, the pair embrace, kiss and walk off the course together — all while she’s hyping him up with sweet words in disbelief.

“Dude! That’s insane!… So, how do you feel about that? How do you feel about that round,” she says, jokingly putting her hand to his mouth as if she’s holding a microphone to interview him. “So proud of you! Good job.”

She added, “The bartender gave me a shot after you hooped that birdie putt.”

Knapp has opened up about White on his Instagram since their relationship became public, including posting sweet tributes and photos in celebration of her birthday and special occasions.

“Feeling very thankful for such a great Christmas with the fam. Hope everyone has a great holiday season and new year… Maui here we come,” the athlete wrote alongside an Instagram carousel, including a PDA-filled pic, in December 2024.

Most recently, Knapp posted a birthday tribute to White on Instagram on July 18.

“Happy birthday to the girl that does it all! The most supportive, caring, loving and thoughtful person I know. Can’t thank you enough for all you do for me on a daily basis. Nobody loves golf, dogs, working out, sunsets and the occasional sweet treat as much as you do. I love you ❤️,” he wrote.

White is from Canada and grew up in Ottawa, where she attended high school. She then attended university in Hamilton, Ontario, and graduated with a degree in honors communications and software engineering in 2019.

After graduating from university, White started a career in surgical sales. She has been working in the field since 2021, per her LinkedIn.

White’s family, too, has gotten in on the fun of supporting Knapp. In February 2024, she posted a photo of a group of her family members wearing merch emblazoned with the golfer’s catchphrase, “Knapp Time.”
