Jaden Smith arrived to the 2025 Met Gala with another daring headpiece.
The actor-musician stepped out to the Met on Monday, May 5, for the annual fashion-focused gathering in New York City rocking a tailored suit and intricate headpiece.
Smith, 26, walked the carpet in a single-breasted black suit with satin lapels, as well as a black shirt and tie. Over his shoulders, he wore a black-and-white checkered shawl. The ensemble was teamed with black shiny platform loafers.
The most notable part of the look, however, was Smith’s wire headpiece that wound around his hair and face. Earlier this year, Smith made headlines for the castle-shaped headpiece he wore to the 2025 Grammys.

In October 2024, Vogue shared details on the 2025 Met Gala, announcing that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for the event, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The gala, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday in May, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. This year’s event also has a star-studded host committee that includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher and Angel Reese.

Jaden and Willow Smith at 2024 Met Gala
The latest Met Gala appearance from Smith, 26, comes just a year after his last — when he and sister Willow Smith attended the annual benefit in coordinating looks for 2024.
At the time, Jaden wore a tailored custom Thom Browne ensemble, including a white denim coat featuring dahlia adornments and several straps. He also opted for an unbuttoned shirt and a pleated skirt over a pair of trousers.
As for Willow, the musician kept things sleek in a black boxy blazer, which she wore as a minidress with sheer tights and stilettos. She paired the look with a towering cylindrical braided hairstyle, courtesy of hairstylist Vernon François in collaboration with Olaplex.
François later revealed on Instagram he drew inspiration from the “intricate beauty of Mangbetu tribe hairstyles.”
“I was completely captivated by the traditional craftsmanship of binding raffia, banana fiber, or hair around the head, and weaving natural hair into rattan frames. This inspired me to extend Willow’s structures while honoring this rich cultural tradition,” he wrote.

The brother-sister duo first attended the Met Gala in 2016 with coordinating sparkly black outfits. The following year, Jaden hit the museum solo while notably carrying a bundle of his own blonde dreadlocks.
Willow and Jaden also made waves earlier this year for their matching avant-garde looks at the 2025 Grammys. For his part, Jaden stuck to a simple black Louis Vuitton tuxedo, which he paired with a large black headpiece resembling a multiple-story castle with a hole cut in the center for his face.
“The artistic headpiece combines the mysterious elegance of ABODI Transylvania with a bold, modern design inspired by Transylvanian history and the vampire legends of the Bathori,” Abodi, which created the headpiece in the style of a Transylvanian castle, wrote in a later Instagram note.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are parents to both Jaden and Willow, while Will shares son Trey, 32, with ex-wife Sheree Zampino. Back in March, the whole blended family posed for a photo together with a snoozing Will, in honor of National Napping Day.
