“Midsommar” star Jack Reynor has joined Rachel Brosnahan in Season 2 of the Apple TV+ legal thriller “Presumed Innocent.”

The next installment of the series is based on Jo Murray’s upcoming novel, “Dissection of a Murder,” which will be published in 2026. Season 1 of “Presumed Innocent” was based on Scott Turow’s 1987 book, which was then adapted into the 1990 movie with Harrison Ford.

Apple TV+ has yet to spill any plot details about Season 2, but the official synopsis of “Dissection of a Murder” reads: “When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn’t be the kind of case she’s leading; it’s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her. To make things worse, he’s refusing to talk. How is she supposed to prove herself on what appears to be an unwinnable case?”

The description continues, “Losing is not an option. She must find the most persuasive argument. Trials aren’t won by convincing judges or fellow barristers – they’re all about convincing a jury. Suddenly, Leila finds herself fighting not only to keep Jack out of prison, but also to keep her own secrets buried.”

Reynor’s credits also include “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and “The Perfect Couple.” He also starred in John Carney’s Ireland-set movie musical “Sing Street,” and he’s reuniting with the director on the upcoming “Power Ballad.” He will also appear in the next season of Amazon Prime Video’s “Citadel.” Brosnahan is hot off her leading role in DC’s “Superman” and is also well-known for starring in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

Season 1 of “Presumed Innocent” starred Jake Gyllenhaal as prosecutor Rusty Sabich, who is on trial for the murder of a fellow attorney. The series hails from Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. Kelley will serve as showrunner on Season 2 alongside Erica Lipez. “Presumed Innocent” netted four Emmy nominations for its inaugural season.
