Days of Our Lives may be headed for another cast shake-up after one star booked a new gig. Al Calderon (Javi) landed a series regular role on NBC’s Brilliant Minds.
The news raised the question of what would happen to Javi, with him either being recast or the character leaving town. A spokesperson for Days of Our Lives has addressed Javi’s future in Salem.

“We do not comment on the contract status of our actors, but fans should not worry, Javi is alive and well in Salem,” a representative for the Peacock soap shared with Deadline.
That answers the question of whether Javi is leaving, but the statement doesn’t reveal who will play him. Since the same company owns Peacock and NBC, Calderon could pull double duty on the two shows.
However, considering Brilliant Minds films in Toronto and Days of Our Lives films in Los Angeles, it isn’t likely that it will happen. All signs point to a Javi recast happening.

Calderon has yet to speak out on his future as Javi. The actor has only announced his new gig on Brilliant Minds. Since he will start taping the NBC show soon, fans should have confirmation on a Javi recast soon.
It’s no secret that Days of Our Lives films months in advance, which means Calderon will appear as Javi until May 2026.
Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on Peacock.
