Ina Garten knows a thing or two about hosting dinner parties, and there are two things she believes you should never bring to the host.

“The two things I don’t think you should ever bring to a dinner party—and they’re so common—is something that the host feels like they should serve. Like Jell-O salad.”
Geist, 50, chimed in to say he “likes” the gelatin-based treat, but Garten, 77, insisted that she doesn’t see the point.
“What are you going to do with that?” the Food Network star quipped.

As for her second idea of a dinner party faux pas, Garten insisted that guests should never “bring flowers that aren’t in a vase.”
“Oh that’s the worst!” Geist agreed, while Garten went on to explain why flowers that need to be unwrapped, cut and placed in a vase with water can be a nuisance to a busy host.
“You’re like, everybody’s arriving, and all of a sudden you’ve got these flowers!” Garten continued, while the audience members seemed to voice their agreement by erupting in cheers and applause over Garten’s suggestion.
