The layoffs came to light under terms of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires companies with more than 75 employees to provide 60 days or more of notice for planned layoffs.

According to the Peoria Journal-Star, nearly 2,100 employees will be laid off at 14 businesses in Illinois in the coming weeks.
