Pritzker admin touts nuclear power ranking
Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Intersect Illinois announced that the Land of Lincoln ranked first for nuclear power in Business Facilities’ annual rankings.
Illinois also finished in the top ten in ten other categories.
The news comes two days after Unleashed Prosperity found that Illinois lost more personal income over the last decade than any state except New York or California.
Davis expected to announce retirement
Illinois U.S. Rep. Danny Davis is expected to announce Thursday that he will not seek reelection in 2026 after nearly 30 years in office.
NBC Chicago reports that Davis will endorse state Rep. La Shawn Ford as his successor.
The 84-year-old Davis was first elected in 1996.
Chicago revenues increase
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson says year-to-date revenues have increased 4.9%, thanks to stronger than expected performance in utility taxes, transactions taxes, income taxes and internal service reimbursements.
The mayor’s mid-year budget report released Wednesday indicated that overtime expenditures decreased by $38 million and spending on contractual services dropped $39 million.
