Yes, of course we’re going to name a best-dressed couple at the 2025 Met Gala. And yes, of course, it is going to be Colman Domingo and his husband Raúl Domingo. And if you must know, it’s because they looked like this:
The patterns! The textures! The complementary necktie embellishments! The sight was effortlessly pleasing to look at in combination but equally delightful to behold individually—something that can be very hard, particularly with theme-dressing. And with said theme of the night being “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the pair’s flourishing accessories, bold colors and patterns, and impeccable tailoring solidified our opinion.
As one of the 2025 co-chairs of the Met Gala, we knew Colman’s look would be eye-catching on its own. The Oscar nominee started the night out in an embellished cerulean cape from Valentino but later revealed another look from Valentino that played with pattern mixing, accessorizing both with jewelry from Boucheron.
His husband, film producer Raúl Domingo, wore an equally stunning, sparkly purple suit. Underneath, he wore a coordinating blouse with a silky tie closure that complemented Colman’s ensemble perfectly.
Colman acknowledged the folks who came before him and made fashion accessible in a recent video for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “I know where I’m standing in history right now, at least my little part of it…my little droplet. If I can point someone’s head back to history to understand how we got here, because it’s not just because I’m here,” he said. “It’s because André Leon Talley was here. It’s because all these other artisans, people, and human beings were here. And so it’s extraordinary. I think it’s going to be very impactful and potent and, surprisingly, very emotional.”
