Iconic actress Helen Mirren made a glamorous appearance on the Cannes red carpet and turned heads in a dramatic gown and hat while attending the Colors of Time screening at the legendary festival on May 22.
Mirren, 79, commanded the attention of fans and photographers alike when she stepped onto the coveted carpet in a slim-fitting, long-sleeved black dress with a stunning light teal ribbon belt. She also rocked an incredible black accent hat that was styled to give somewhat of a veil feel to the look. Finally, she finished off the ensemble with a massive diamond and pearl necklace that also featured huge light blue stones.
Considering this was Mirren’s first appearance at Cannes this year, it’s safe to say she struck a seriously cool figure on the carpet and made an impression both with her fashion and her enduring legacy.
The seasoned performer, who has been a bastion of cinema for over 60 years, is currently starring in the Yellowstone spinoff series 1923 opposite Harrison Ford, as well as the new British crime drama MobLand opposite Tom Hardy. As for her upcoming film slate, the Academy Award winner has quite a few exciting things on the horizon.
Mirren stars in the upcoming Netflix crime comedy The Thursday Murder Club, which is set to release on the streamer in August. From there, she will step into the role of psychological thriller writer Patricia Highsmith in Switzerland, based on the 2014 play of the same name. The movie started filming in January and has yet to set a release date. Mirren will also appear in Goodbye June, an upcoming British drama that started filming in March. That project will mark Kate Winslet’s directorial debut and will also star Andrea Riseborough, Toni Collette, and Timothy Spall. The film also has yet to set a release date.
