Iconic Actress, 65, Unrecognizable 39 Years After Starring in ‘Hill Street Blues’ originally appeared on Parade.
Megan Gallagher, the actress who rose to fame in the final seasons of the 1980s drama Hill Street Blues, has made a rare public appearance — and nearly four decades later, fans are stunned by her transformation.
The 65-year-old star was photographed in Los Angeles at the end of July during a casual power walk, dressed in a black tank top, dark pants and a baseball cap. The photos, published by the Daily Mail, show Gallagher looking ageless and low-key, a different vibe from the uniformed figure viewers remember as Officer Tina Russo.
Gallagher joined Hill Street Blues in 1986 and appeared in 19 episodes until 1987, helping close out the series with her portrayal of a determined police officer.
While the show was already a commercial success by the time she joined, her character made a notable impact with fans. Gallagher quickly became a standout among a cast already filled with award-winning talent like Daniel J. Travanti and Betty Thomas.
After her time on Hill Street Blues, Gallagher continued to build a solid career throughout the late ’80s and ’90s. She took on roles in several other prominent series, including China Beach, The Slap Maxwell Story and The Larry Sanders Show, before securing a leading role in the cult-favorite sci-fi series Millennium.
She also made the jump to the big screen, with a small role in the 2005 action film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In more recent years, Gallagher has appeared in a number of popular television dramas, including NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. She also starred in a few episodes of Suits, which is now best known for launching the career of Meghan Markle.
