As seen on her latest post, Campbell walked the runway representing Versace’s collection. At the time, she was part of the so-called Gianni’s girls, which refers to the elite group of supermodels associated with the Italian designer.
On July 15, 1997, the renowned fashion designer was murdered outside his Miami Beach mansion, Casa Casuarina, after being shot by suspected gunman Andrew Phillip Cunanan.
The tragic death brought immense grief to Campbell, who later confessed that she struggled with drug addiction in the ’90s following his passing.
“Grief has been a very strange thing in my life because it doesn’t always [show],” she revealed in the Apple TV+ docuseries “The Super Models,” adding that she was slowly “killing” herself with substance use in hopes of suppressing her feelings.
