Iconic ’80s Actress ‘Looks Fantastic’ 44 Years After Starring Alongside Kurt Russell originally appeared on Parade.
From playing Bea Arthur‘s daughter in the ’70s sitcom Maude to earning her status as a “scream queen” in such iconic ’80s horror movies as The Fog and Swamp Thing — not to mention starring alongside Kurt Russell in the classic 1981 sci-fi film Escape from New York — Adrienne Barbeau won the hearts of countless fans over the course of her career…and as a recent video proved, they’re still lining up to catch a glimpse of the star.
In a video shared to TikTok this week, Barbeau, 80, smiled and chatted with fans at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, NC. The actress was dressed casually for the event in a gray tank top, accessorizing with a pair of pink-rimmed glasses, and wore her dark brown hair in a wavy, shoulder-length style.
Commenters were blown away by Barbeau’s seemingly ageless appearance.
“Man she still looks fantastic,” one person wrote, with a second agreeing, “Looks great.”
“I always thought she was beautiful,” someone else admitted, as another quipped, “We were supposed to get married. She must not have gotten the memo.”
In a 2021 interview with Rewind It Magazine, Barbeau reflected on her career path, saying, “I never set out to act in horror films specifically. I wasn’t even aware of the genre, really.”
“But I was offered the role of Stevie Wayne in The Fog and in those days, if you were known for your work on television, you couldn’t get hired to do movies,” she continued. “So when The Fog came along, I jumped at the chance. None of us knew, back in 1979, that the film would still be as much loved today as it was then.”
As far as Escape From New York, Barbeau raved about the experience.
“All the men on that set were great to work with, every single one of them,” she recalled.
