Qi2 offers faster MagSafe charging
One of the biggest wins with the ICEMAG 2 is its support for Qi2, the latest wireless charging standard. Unlike the original Qi chargers, which often deliver slower and less efficient charging, Qi2 enables a more stable magnetic connection with better power transfer. That means the ICEMAG2 can charge an iPhone at 15W wirelessly, making it twice as fast as an older Qi charger.
Active cooling keeps charging speeds consistent but adds noise
MagSafe charging generates heat, and excess heat often leads to throttled charging speeds while the iPhone cools off. Many MagSafe battery packs slow down as they warm up, making charging take longer than expected. The ICEMAG 2 attempts to solve this with its built-in active cooling system, but it comes with a cost.
The ICEMAG 2 battery features an internal fan and aluminum backplate designed to dissipate heat, allowing it to maintain faster charging speeds over time. It’s important to note that this cooling system does not actively cool your iPhone—it is designed to regulate the battery itself. That means it won’t stop your phone from getting warm, but it should prevent the battery from getting hot and transfer that heat to the iPhone. The only downside is that the battery isn’t completely silent.
30W wired charging makes the ICEMAG 2 more versatile
While wireless charging is the main focus, the ICEMAG 2 battery also supports 30W wired charging, which adds a significant benefit. A lot of MagSafe batteries top out at 20W or less when using a USB-C cable, but this one can recharge itself in just 1.5 hours and even power a MacBook Air if you need to charge while traveling. So, to say it another way, it can charge 30 watts in and out. The built-in stand is also helpful for watching a movie, etc.
Wrap up on ICEMAG 2
The ICEMAG 2 has the best overall design of any MagSafe battery on the market. It includes Qi2 and 30-watt over-wired, and it includes a stand. It really has everything you’d want. However, the fan noise may be a drawback for some people. Still, I highly recommend a MagSafe battery for those looking for one. With a 10,000mAh size, it’ll give you a couple of charges depending on which iPhone you have.
