Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday blasted Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ recent rant about ICE agents wearing masks during raids on illegal immigrants.
Bass had recently announced that her office is filing a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to discover the identities of ICE agents working to detain illegal immigrants in California, later posting a clip of the MSNBC interview on X with the question, “Who are these masked men going around our city, snatching people off the streets?” ICE responded on the social media platform that the officers in question “wear masks because rhetoric like [Bass’] has ramped up threats and assaults against their families.” (RELATED: ‘Let Me Answer’: Tom Homan Steamrolls Reporter Who Casts Doubt On Need For ICE To Wear Masks)
ICE’s official X account stated further that its agents are “doing their job and detaining illegal aliens who broke immigration law.” ICE also demanded Bass stop “fearmongering for political attention.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently announced that assaults against ICE officers and Immigration enforcement have risen almost 700% this year. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem added on Tuesday that the number has now risen to an 830% increase of assaults on ICE agents compared with the same time last year.
Bass has been an avid opponent of U.S. Customs and immigration policy in California, recently filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration for Los Angeles ICE raids. She even showed up at a July 7 immigration raid at Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park, telling reporters that the government agents “need to leave and they need to leave right now!”
An official from Bass’ administration has links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the Daily Caller News Foundation recently discovered.
Bass and other California officials have frequently faced criticism for failing reconstruction efforts after California wildfires destroyed thousands of homes in January.
