Hunter Biden opened up about his crack cocaine addiction in an interview Monday with Andrew Callaghan on Channel 5, a YouTube channel.
Biden said he often risked his life buying crack on the street, which he described as even more dangerous than the drug itself. (RELATED: Third Biden Aide Annie Tomasini Pleads The Fifth In House Oversight Probe Into Alleged Cover-Up)
“Places that you can go get it are some of the most dangerous places in whatever location you happen to be in. And it’s everywhere,” Biden said. “Mainly for that reason, I learned how to make my own.”
Sober since 2019, he claimed, Biden dismissed accusations that he used crack inside the White House while his father was president.
“They’ve convinced themselves it had to be me,” he said. “I have been clean and sober since June of 2019 and I have not touched a drop of alcohol or a drug and I’m incredibly proud of that. And why would you bring cocaine to the White House? Why would I bring it to the White House and stick it into a cubby outside the situation room in the West Wing?”
President Donald Trump has claimed the cocaine discovered in the West Wing during former President Joe Biden’s term belonged to “either Joe or Hunter,” casting it as evidence of their alleged misconduct.
Biden, in the interview, also took aim at other frequent critics, singling out Donald Trump Jr. and Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for exploiting his past.
“So, I think for those that wanted to use it as a bludgeon, it just was easier when you slap the word ‘crack addict’ onto it,” he said. “It made me a lot easier target for the Don Juniors of the world, the Marjorie Taylor Greenes of the world, just because of their inherent, kind of, meanness about things.”
A Delaware jury convicted Biden in June 2024 of illegally buying and possessing a firearm while addicted to drugs. He was later pardoned on all charges by his father.
