Over nine seasons, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and his fraudulent associate Mike (Patrick J. Adams) foiled multiple foes, from slippery criminal Charles Forstman (Eric Roberts) to crafty Anita Gibbs (Leslie Hope) to original name partner baddie Daniel Hardman (David Costabile). But in Suits‘ final season, Faye Richardson (Denise Crosby) might have out-villained them all merely by being extremely (emphasis on extremely) ethical.
As the New York Bar Association-appointed special master (essentially acting as official supervision for the firm), Faye tries to get these lawyers to do things by the book — with devastating results. In the penultimate episode, she forces Harvey and Louis (Rick Hoffman) to represent her in a wrongful termination suit brought by Sam (Katherine Heigl) and Mike. If they win, she’ll leave. If they lose, she’ll destroy the firm and Sam’s law license.
So grab another piece of pie for your wife — I’ll even eat a bean pie, I don’t mind — and read on to see how Suits pulled off “One Last Con.”
Firm drama first: How was Faye vanquished?

The whole team has to come together for this daunting task. First, Alex (Dulé Hill) recruits the recently fired Katrina (Amanda Schull) to threaten to testify against Faye. Spooked by the idea, Faye pressures Harvey to ensure that doesn’t happen. Harvey agrees, but only after insisting that Faye make their deal official with a signed agreement. (He’s done with her ever-increasing demands.)
The next day, Gretchen (Aloma Wright) hands over the document for Faye to sign while Louis, Mike, Donna, and Alex watch. Just as she’s about to put pen to paper, however, Mike and Sam storm in, accuse Faye of illegally tampering with testimony, and start a physical fight with Harvey. (A particular highlight: How thoroughly Sam enjoys slapping Harvey.)
Faye, disgusted by everyone, signs the document.
Only it’s not the same document! Turns out that during the fight, Gretchen switched papers. What Faye actually signed was an admission of witness tampering. The blackmail threat, however, starts to wear off, so ultimately Harvey has to do what he does best: close Faye. Asking everyone else to leave, the two enemies have a private conversation that finally gets Faye out of Specter Litt Williams for good.

Harvey does the one thing no one ever thought he’d do: agree to leave the firm. Faye primarily blames him for setting an example of constant rule-bending and breaking (*cough* she had a point *cough*), so his exit saves everyone else.

Once Faye is vanquished, Sam is back in and finally on the wall. Katrina is rightly judged to have earned her place, too. The firm is christened Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett — named for Louis, Sam, Alex, and Katrina. Sam wisely insists they commit to no more name changes for at least five years.
So wait, how many different names did the firm have over nine seasons?

Sheila (Rachael Harris) welcomes Lucy Litt into the world
Both! But not without drama. When Sheila (Rachael Harris) goes into labor during the wedding ceremony, Louis proves once again why he’s low-key the best, revealing he had an ambulance waiting just in case. They get to the hospital, Sheila is whisked away into emergency surgery, and in no time, Lucy Litt is welcomed into the world. Mother and daughter are both healthy and safe.
As Louis says, it’s the happiest day of his life.

Donna and Harvey are about to make it official
Back at the abandoned wedding, guests are pretty aimless without anything to celebrate. So Harvey, fresh out of dealing with his copious Mommy issues and realizing he’s done wasting time on regret, gets down on one knee.
Forget the dress, he says, Donna (Sarah Rafferty) looks fabulous anyway, and they can always have another ceremony for their families. Donna does not fight this airtight logic, and the two finally, finally, make it official.
Let’s just assume that at some point, Louis is going to lose his mind since he accidentally paid for Harvey’s wedding.
What’s going on with Harvey and Mike?

Harvey and Mike are officially back
Harvey promised Faye he’d leave the firm… but it turns out that’s what he and Donna wanted all along anyway.
They’re heading to Seattle to work with Mike and Rachel (Meghan Markle) at their practice. Harvey knows he’ll always want to work in the gray areas, but at least in Seattle, he’ll be doing it for the good guys.
Butch and Sundance are back?!
They are back!
Mike stages a fake interview — à la the pilot episode, Barbri legal handbook and all — and insists Harvey get rid of his too-fat ties. Skinny ties and friendship win the day. Harvey takes one more walk through the office, thinking about the last nine years (we even get Jessica in flashback!), and walks away content.
So Harvey managed to close the two most important people in his life?
Best closer in… well, anywhere.
