HGTV fans are buzzing over a wave of show cancellations in recent weeks. Despite a social media post that some interpreted as a farewell, one fan-favorite HGTV star is trying to reassure everybody he is staying put.
Ty Pennington caused some concern with a recent social media post he shared. Luckily, he interacted with worried fans in the comment section to calm everybody down.
On July 18, Pennington shared a shot on Instagram showing him holding a vintage green suitcase in his hand as he stood on the rocky shoreline of the Brooklyn Bridge. In the caption, he wrote, “A quiet place,” and he added a handful of hashtags. One was “finding solitude in the city,” while another was “best city in the world.”

Seeing Pennington holding a suitcase prompted some fans to question the message behind his post.
One fan commented, “Ty come back boi we need you lol! Don’t you pack up and leave us all up in here. You need to come back and remodel somethin! We love you!”
“I’m confused. You look great, though,” shared another fan.
“Good luck onto new adventures. I have faith we’ll be seeing you again soon,” added someone else.
“I’m not really watching HGTV anymore because of all [the] good shows they are dropping. I look forward to you landing on a different channel somewhere. Impatiently waiting,” read an additional response.
“Ty … I can’t put into words about HGTV … they took your show and replaced it with the same show…. you have a fan base for years… Where one door closes more will open… For now rest… enjoy some free time.. This is far from over,” wrote an additional supporter of Pennington’s.
Someone else wrote, “I, like many huge fans of HGTV, do not understand what they are doing cancelling all these great shows.”
Pennington was quick to post responses to several comments to reassure everybody he was still with HGTV. He admitted in several responses that he was confused by the reaction his post received. He repeatedly reassured fans his time with HGTV is not over.
“I’m not leaving! I just travel light,” he quipped in response to one concerned fan. In response to someone else who noted their frustration with HGTV’s recent cancellations, Pennington admitted he didn’t understand it either.
In another spot, Pennington admitted in another comment,” I don’t understand what people are seeing! Is it because I have a suitcase?? Like I’m packing up and leaving? I’m honestly so confused.”
Elsewhere, Pennington wrote, “I’ll still be on HGTV. I hope you’ll tune in.”
Ultimately, Pennington wasn’t trying to reveal anything significant regarding his status with HGTV with his Instagram post. However, the reaction from fans was understandable given recent network developments.
Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer, and Christina on the Coast are a few of the shows that have been shelved in recent weeks. The flurry of unexpected network changes has left many fans anxious about what else might be on the chopping block.
For now, Pennington seems confident he’ll remain connected to HGTV despite the network’s other changes.
