McDonald’s lovers have figured out how to get the fast food chain’s Sprite to taste even sweeter.
According to multiple social media users, customers can create their very own cotton candy-tasting version of the soda by asking staff members to add three pumps of French vanilla syrup to the beverage.
TikTok user @realbadlandschugs, whose videos showing him chugging drinks have been watched by millions online, tried the hack earlier this year.
“Y’all seen this, folks? Well, it looks like a McDonald’s Sprite, it sounds like a McDonald’s Sprite, but you add three pumps of vanilla syrup… this turns into a Cotton Candy Sprite!” he said in the clip.
“Oh man, this is the new hack for 2025!” the social media user added. “I’m telling you! The way they’re reworking Sprite, it’s amazing!”

Another TikTok user, who claims to be a McDonald’s employee, brought attention to the hack in 2022, sharing a video showing himself trying the drink.
“It actually tastes like cotton candy,” the content creator, who uses the handle @mcdonalds_hacks101, said, writing over the clip, “I can’t speak, I’m so confused.”
“At this point, I don’t even know, you just have to try it for yourself,” he admitted, insisting, “But it tastes like cotton candy.”
TikTok user @yj_630 said in another clip after purchasing the secret menu item, “Yo! This is really good, it tastes like cotton candy!”
“I give this a nine out of 10,” he added in the video.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed to PEOPLE in 2020 that despite there being no official secret menu at the fast food chain, the typical menu can be commonly adapted.
“We know our customers are really creative, and they tell us all the time that they enjoy customizing our menu,” the spokesperson said.

During a previous Reddit “Ask Me Anything” thread, an anonymous McDonald’s manager confirmed that you can “add, remove or change ingredients by special request. These are called ‘grill orders’ (i.e. Big Mac no pickle).”
However, being able to order items off the unofficial menu is just a matter of who is behind the counter, the manager said at the time.
“Order one and the workers might not know it by name,” they previously wrote. “But if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it’s just another ‘grill order’ that we can make up.”
