One soldier stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky was killed and another was injured during a helicopter training exercise gone wrong Wednesday night.
Emergency services immediately responded to the scene, according to a press release from the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. The wounded service member was sent to a military hospital and his condition has stabilized.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family of the service member who lost their life in last night’s aviation incident. Our thoughts are also with the injured soldier, and we pray for a full recovery. The city offers its full support and assistance to the 101st Airborne Division and the entire Fort Campbell community during this difficult time,” Hopkinsville Mayor James Knight Jr. said in a statement, WLKY reported.
This incident comes on the heels of the death of Sgt. Aaron Cox from the 101st Airborne Division during a vehicle training exercise in Hungary back in early June, Military.com reported.
“He was a strong Soldier and leader, who quickly rose through the ranks while serving. We are in direct contact with his family, for care and support that they need during this difficult time. We would like to thank our Hungarian Allies for their prompt response and support to our Soldiers,” Col. Duke Reim of the 101st Airborne Division said in a press statement about the incident.
The Daily Caller reached out to the 101st Airborne Division for comment about the helicopter crash and has not received a reply as of publication.
