Heather Locklear made a rare appearance over the weekend at Calgary Expo, a fan convention that took place April 24 to 27, 2025, in Canada.
The actress, 63, spoke on a panel about her lengthy career, which most notably includes starring roles on the television series Spin City, Dynasty, T.J. Hooker and Melrose Place.
The original Melrose Place, which chronicled the lives and loves of the residents of the titular apartment complex, ran for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999, with a cast that included Locklear, Jack Wagner, Laura Leighton, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Daphne Zuniga, Andrew Shue, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Doug Savant, Rob Estes and Grant Show. It received five Golden Globe nominations, including best performance by an actress in a TV drama for Locklear and and best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, miniseries or TV movie for Leighton, 55.

In a recent episode of the rewatch podcast Still the Place, Locklear spoke about her time on Melrose Place, which began when her character was introduced midway through the show’s first season, in an effort to improve its ratings, which had been trending downward since it premiered on Fox in July 1992. But as she told fellow show alumnae Courtney Thorne-Smith, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton, she never felt any pressure to save the show from cancelation because she didn’t know it was in trouble.

After Locklear’s character first appeared in the January 1993 episode, the show’s ratings improved enough that, Thorne-Smith recalled, Fox added another 10 episodes to Melrose Place’s first season order. Locklear was promoted to a main cast member for season 2 and her character quickly evolved into a scheming antagonist, making the actress one of the show’s breakout stars.
