Hailey Bieber just stepped out in a piece of fashion history.
On Wednesday, April 30, the Rhode founder, 28, was spotted in New York City channeling spring style in a baby blue Gucci by Tom Ford shift dress from the label’s 1998 Spring/Summer collection. And while it’s no surprise to see the trendsetter dripping in vintage apparel, this look appeared to hint at a little something called the Met Gala.
Bieber’s stylist Dani Michelle revealed on Instagram that the mini, sourced from second-hand luxury dealer TheRealList, was actually previously worn by Anna Wintour, who just so happens to be a longtime co-chair of fashion’s biggest night, which will be hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5. In her Instagram Stories, she captioned the throwback snap, “icons only.”
According to a sartorial savant on X, Wintour wore the outfit to attend a 1998 U.S. Embassy party in Paris.
Michelle, of course, put a Hailey-Bieber twist to the outfit by adding a pair of nude stilettos with PVC straps, chic sunglasses and a beige clutch. Bieber also accessorized with her viral Rhode phone case.

With fashion’s biggest night right around the corner, it’s hard not to reflect on all the memorable looks of carpets pasts, including Bieber’s.
The mom of one has been attending the glam night since 2016, when she made her debut in a decorative Topshop dress in tune with the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme. She attended her first gala with husband Justin Bieber in 2021 wearing a plunging Saint Laurent dress, while he wore a black suit and sneakers.
The last time Bieber graced the Met steps with her effortless style was in 2022. Months after revealing that she underwent a mini stroke and heart procedure, she took the carpet by storm in a white Saint Laurent halter gown complete with a feathery cape.

Although it’s been quite some time since the former model descended upon the star-studded event — which this year is themed to the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit — she’s still been supplying fashion inspo elsewhere.
On April 8, Bieber attended the 2025 Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in a plum Saint Laurent gown designed with waist-accentuating panels as well as cutouts.
