Hailee Steinfeld and Michael B. Jordan are having a bloody good time with Sinners‘ success at the box office.
On Tuesday, April 29, Steinfeld, 28, and Jordan, 38, shared a joint Instagram post that featured a photo of them on their vampire movie’s set, covered in blood and flashing peace signs for a wide-grinned selfie together. “2 weeks at #1… Thank you for being part of this experience. ❤️,” the pair wrote in a caption to their post.
Sinners — the pair’s new movie with Jordan’s frequent collaborator Ryan Coogler — is a bold, original story that meets Jordan as twin characters Smoke and Stack, whose attempt to open a nightclub in their 1930s Mississippi hometown goes violently sideways when a vampire is attracted to the venue’s music. The movie made $55.8 million in its initial opening weekend and continued to find success with audiences in its second weekend when it made another $45.7 million at the domestic box office — more than $20 million more than the next new release, Ben Affleck’s The Accountant 2.
Jordan also took to Instagram to share his excitement for the movie’s continued success on Sunday, April 27, writing, “Words can’t express the gratitude that I feel for everyone and the outpour of love for our film!! it’s a crazy feeling to know how many of you have showed up and continue to support this film. This is why we make movies and love watching movies on the big screen. It brings people together!! 🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”

“I’m speechless. I’m proud. I’m happy. I’m blown away by the outpour of love and support and I just want to say thank you,” Jordan said in a video that he posted as well. “Thank you to everybody who bought some popcorn, who bought a ticket, who got a babysitter, who pulled up and showed love to Sinners this past week. We set out to do something, to tell a story, to be honest, to bare our souls as best we can in the work that we do. So on behalf of the entire cast and crew, and the creatives, I want to say thank you to all the fans, I just want to say thank you.”

“It’s crazy. From the memes to just the conversations that are happening to — everybody’s taking something from it, and it’s so much to unpack,” Jordan added. “At the end of the day it’s just, in the words of [Coogler,] it’s a full meal. And I’m blessed to be a part of it, so I just want to say thank you, sincerely from the bottom of my heart, from Smoke and Stack.”
