Gwyneth Paltrow made a radiant case for spring white as she made a rare carpet appearance on Saturday. While stepping out at the star-studded 11th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on April 5, the wellness guru leaned into her signature ‘90s less is more style ethos by revamping the LWD. While simple at first glance, Paltrow’s strapless white dress featured an unexpected sculptural detail at the bottom.
While posing with fellow celebrities like Zoe Saldaña on the red carpet, Paltrow stunned in the elegant number, which featured a body-con silhouette through the hips ending with a flared hemline. The strapless dress had a simple tube top bodice that hugged Paltrow’s curves through the mermaid-style design. At the bottom, the gown flared out with a second layer–a dramatic ruffled skirt in a nude hue–peeking out from underneath. As the Shakespeare in Love actress turned, she showed off how the dress’s long train trailed behind her.

Paltrow showed off her natural beauty by wearing her long blonde hair in a relaxed wavy style, showing off a pair of silver chandelier earrings. She subtly accentuated her features with monochromatic rose gold on her eyelids, cheeks, and lips.

The actress’s surprise red carpet appearance comes just days after her lookalike daughter, Apple Martin, made her magazine debut with an Interview magazine feature. The 20-year-old Vanderbilt student admitted that she frequently raids her mom’s wardrobe, telling the publication, “I’ll sneak into her closet and steal little things. My absolute favorite stuff is her old Calvin Klein from the ’90s.”

Martin, who recently made her debutante debut in a Gwyneth-coded blue strapless Valentino gown, called the experience “just heaven on earth.” She revealed that her mom was supportive of her daughter wearing her clothes and had “saved it all so that [she] could steal it.”
