One woman left guests in shock after she showed up to her son’s nuptials wearing a wedding dress and a veil.
A relative of the bride and groom detailed in a post on Reddit’s “Wedding Drama” forum, how the mother of the groom made her ceremony entrance wearing a “white, floor-length gown with a veil.”
“People actually paused mid-conversation,” the wedding guest remembered. “It wasn’t a soft ivory or beige either, it was wedding white and covered in lace.”
They noted, “One kid whispered, ‘Did she forget whose wedding this is?’ “

Naturally, the bride was “shocked.” However, she “kept her cool” and didn’t make a scene about her future mother-in-law’s controversial attire. Meanwhile, the embarrassed groom “looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him whole.”
One partygoer was curious as to why the groom’s mom would wear something so similar to the bride, and “gently” asked her why she chose to wear white. In response, she “just laughed” and replied, “Oh don’t worry, mine has more sleeves we won’t get confused.”
Even though the groom’s mom claimed she wasn’t trying to play bride, her actions implied otherwise.
“She spent the entire ceremony hovering dangerously close to the front, trying to adjust the bride’s train like she was part of the bridal team,” the Redditor recalled. “At one point she whispered loudly, ‘This is just like my wedding but with fewer candles!’ “
Her questionable actions didn’t stop at the ceremony. At the reception, she even caught the bride’s bouquet and shouted, “Round two coming up!”

“I don’t think the bride has forgiven her yet,” the wedding guest said. “But at least now we all know to send her a black jumpsuit invite for any future weddings.”

Many Reddit users commented that they couldn’t believe the audacity of the groom’s mom to wear a wedding dress plus a veil to the ceremony. They believe that the shocking decision was definitely intentional.
“I will never understand people,” the top comment reads.
“People like this know EXACTLY what they’re doing. the ‘oops teehee’ act? calculated. she wanted the drama and the attention.”
