She’s a secret artist! Former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl stunned fans while revealing her amazing painting skills in a new Instagram post on Monday, August 11, 2025.
“When I’m not reading, I’m painting,” she explained in the caption of the photos, which show the 27 Dresses star working on a large canvas featuring a girl floating amid a patchwork of blue tones with pops of orange and reaching for a bright yellow canary bird.
“I’ve had the privilege of time this summer and have used it to indulge in all my most favorite hobbies,” the mother of three kids continued. “I’ve been working on this piece for about four months…just slowly chipping away at her. She’s not done yet, but she’s close.” The actress added that she’s titled the striking piece of art “When AI Dreams.”

Fans were blown away by her secret talent and quickly took to the comments to praise her artistic skills. “Is this real?? Did you actually paint this? Incredible,” said one surprised fan, while another added, “Is there anything she can’t do?! Incredibly talented!” A third added, “I just admire you more and more!”
While some fans are just now learning of Heigl’s art, others have been following her work for years. Most recently, Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley presented Mountain Love Song, a joint exhibit of their favorite pieces at Gallery MAR in Park City, Utah, in February 2025.

“[Josh] and I are beyond grateful for the love and support you’ve shown for our work,” she posted on Instagram as the exhibit came to a close. “This collection brings together my mixed media artworks and Josh’s exquisite leatherwork, each piece inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Utah’s mountains.”
Fans were able to purchase the art at the gallery and online, and the proceeds went to the Jason Heigl Foundation to help shelter animals.
