Greg Berlanti Sets Skybound Comic Adaptation ‘Stillwater’ at Amazon, ‘Foster Dade’ at Hulu

Greg Berlanti has set up multiple projects across multiple streamers on which he will serve as co-writer, Variety has confirmed.

Although Berlanti remains one of the most prolific producers in Hollywood via his Warner Bros. TV-based Berlanti Productions, the most recent show on which he was credited as a writer was “Superman & Lois,” which debuted in 2021.

First up, Berlanti and Carly Wray (“The Leftovers,” “Watchmen”) are set as writers and executive producers on the horror thriller “Stillwater,” based on the Skybound comic book of the same name by Chip Zdarsky and Ramon K. Perez.

The official logline for the show states, “When ex-con Daniel West receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a substantial inheritance in the small town of Stillwater, he discovers a community where nothing ever ages, no one ever dies, and nobody ever gets out.”

Executive producing for Skybound Entertainment are Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller, and Zdarsky. Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman will executive producer for Berlanti Producitons, with Robbie Rogers and Jonathan Gabay also executive producing. WBTV, where Wray is also under an overall deal, is the studio.

Berlanti is also the co-writer on the spec script “Foster Dade,” which has been bought by Hulu with an eye toward a pilot order. Bathsheba Doran (“Life After Life,” “The Nevers”) is the other co-writer. The project is based on the novel “Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos” by Nash Jenkins, which was published in 2023. The novel is told from the perspective of a narrator who moves into Foster’s old dorm room at the elite Kennedy boarding school, setting off an investigation into a scandal that rocked the campus.

Berlanti and Doran are both executive producers, along with Schechter, Redman, and Donald De Line of De Line Pictures. Warner Bros. Television is the studio.

Finally, Berlanti is developing what has been described as a family drama at Max, though exact plot details remain under wraps. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the plan is for the show to follow the 15 episodes per season model at a reasonable budget established by recent Max hit “The Pitt.”

Berlanti Prods. current slate includes the final season of “You” at Netflix (which Berlanti co-created with Sera Gamble), “Found” and “Brilliant Minds” at NBC, and “All American” at The CW.

Berlanti is repped by CAA and Felker Toczek.
