Green Day is loving life at the moment!

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at a launch party for the band’s new 7-Eleven Slurpee flavor, Kerplunk Kandy Grape, in Hollywood on Friday, May 2, band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool spoke about their new drink, as well as being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame a day prior.

Armstrong, 53, still wrapping his head around the honor, told PEOPLE he was tempted to walk over to the group’s newly minted star just to see it again.

Describing the moment as “like a fever dream,” the lead vocalist and guitarist said, “I never expected in a million years that we’d ever have a star like that. It’s still sinking in.”

“After the ceremony, I went and took a two-hour nap. I was so overwhelmed,” added Dirnt, 52. “It was very emotional to some degree, and it’s great for the fans. They can all come here and see something that validates their love for Green Day.”

During the Walk of Fame event, Green Day was honored with the 2,810th star. It is located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, next to Amoeba Hollywood.

The musical trio was joined by emcee Matt Pinfield and music producer Rob Cavallo, as well as Ryan Reynolds — who gave a speech — and Flavor Flav.

Now, also celebrating their new Slurpee flavor, which is green-colored and tastes like a mix of cotton candy and grape, Green Day chose to name it after Kerplunk!, their second studio album, because it was during the time the LP was released when Green Day spent the most time buying stuff at 7-Eleven.

Dirnt told PEOPLE, too, that having a Slurpee made in Green Day’s honor is even more deeply rooted, describing it as “a dream come true.”

“When you’re a little kid, you’re trying to make your own flavor. You know? You’re mixing all the different Slurpee flavors together. Who doesn’t want to design their own Slurpee, right? I mean, that’s just fun. There’s still that little kid in every one of us,” the bassist and backing vocalist continued.

Cool, 52, agreed, calling Slurpees a drink that brings instant joy. “One thing I can say about Slurpees is it’s hard to be upset or mad when you’re drinking a Slurpee. It sort of induces happiness, and that’s totally something we could get behind,” said the drummer.
