On Monday afternoon, fans of Gracie Abrams were sent an email announcing that she had released a video performance of the hit song “Close To You,” along with her collaboration with Robyn performing “Dancing On My Own” at Lollapalooza, now available on YouTube.

The 25-year-old singer was one of the headliners at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago, alongside Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler, The Creator, Sabrina Carpenter, A$AP Rocky, Luke Combs, TWICE, Korn and Rüfüs Du Sol. At the end of her set, Abrams brought out the Swedish singer Robyn to sing her 2010 hit, “Dancing On My Own.” The performance concluded with the outro of Abrams’ song, “Close To You,” bringing the show to an end.

In the email, Abrams also had a sweet message for the 46-year-old DJ, which read, “Robyn, every second up there with you was electric and impossible to believe. Thank you will never cut it, but thank you, and thank you for making my favorite music. I love you.”

This is not the first time Abrams has expressed her love and gratitude for the “Ever Again” singer. Earlier this month, a day after her Lollapalooza performance, Abrams went to Instagram to express her appreciation and joy.

“Chicago, I will write you love letters for years and years and years. @lollapalooza Thank you so much for having us back,” she wrote a couple of weeks ago. “@robynkonichiwa Watching you walk out on stage in those cherry red heels with the hair and the drums and the wind and the smoke made my heart stop. You have magic powers and by some miracle you are also generous enough to have shared them with us last night…”

Robyn also posted a video of the performance on her Instagram on August 2, with the caption “Me and Gracie dancing on our own, close to each other,” to which Abrams commented, “Hero,” the same day it was shared.

Robyn rose to fame in 1995 with her debut album, Robyn is Here, which produced two Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles: “Do You Know (What It Takes)” and “Show Me Love.” Though she released four more studio albums since, her 2010 hit “Dancing on My Own” is often credited as her signature song and helped rejuvenate her career. The most recent studio album from the Swedish singer is “Honey,” which was released in October 2018.

The last single Robyn released was “Life” in collaboration with Jamie xx in June 2024, and she was also featured in Charli xcx’s remix version of her song “360” with Yung Lean. Meanwhile, Abrams is wrapping up her The Secret Of Us Tour, which ends next Wednesday in Mexico City.

Fans can now watch Abrams and Robyn’s performance at Lollapalooza on YouTube.
